The Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce & The Leadership Broward Foundation, Inc. to Host Luncheon Honoring Gabriel L. Imperato

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (January 15, 2010) - The Leadership Broward Foundation, Inc. (LBF) and the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce are hosting a luncheon (open to the public/tickets $65) on Friday, February 19 (11:30 – 2:00 p.m.) at the Signature Grand in Davie, where Gabriel L. Imperato, the managing partner of the statewide law firm Broad and Cassel’s Fort Lauderdale office, will be presented with the 2010 “Excellence in Leadership” award. The award which stands for extraordinary leadership is presented to a SEO Alumnus and/or a committee member who has distinguished themselves in his/her community.

The keynote speaker at the luncheon will be none other than the legendary former Navy commander Michael Abrashoff. Leading an unprecedented turnaround story, Mike Abrashoff took command of the worst performing ship in the fleet and made it #1 by changing the culture — not the crew. Abrashoff is the author of the New York Times bestselling book, It’s Your Ship: Management Techniques from the Best Damn Ship in the Navy. He has also written a follow-up book, Get Your Ship Together, which includes leaders’ stories about how their organizations have applied Abrashoff’s leadership principles. Publications such as Fast Company and the Harvard Business Review have heralded the incredible turnaround of the USS Benfold and business schools have made it a case study in organizational success.
