Broad and Cassel’s Orlando Real Estate Team Expands With New Attorneys

ORLANDO, Fla. - [June 20, 2016] — Statewide law firm Broad and Cassel today announced Heather A. Purdy and Lawrence A. Raab have joined its Orlando office as associates in the Real Estate Group.

Purdy has extensive experience in structuring real estate purchase and sale agreements, managing real property sold at tax sales, and in the formation of holding companies and joint venture partnerships. Prior to joining Broad and Cassel, she served as an intern with Sun Management and Development Corporation in Indianapolis, Ind.

Having completed her undergraduate degree from the University of Central Florida, Purdy went on to earn her juris doctor from Emory University School of Law where she was in the top 25 percent of her class, president of the Tax Law Society and recipient of the Morton H. Aronson Franchise Law Award. She is currently a master of laws in taxation candidate at the University of Florida Levin College of Law and serves as a member of The Florida Bar. Purdy also holds a certificate in transactional law and skills.

In addition to Purdy, Broad and Cassel also welcomes Raab to the Orlando real estate team. Raab has extensive experience preparing commercial leases, pre-closing and post-closing statements, title insurance commitments, and purchase and sale agreements. Most recently, Raab served as a law clerk at Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman, P.L., where he assisted in the Real Estate and Land Use Practice Groups. He also served as counsel to the U.S. Congress Natural Resources Committee in Washington, D.C.

Raab holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and a master’s degree in public administration from Syracuse University Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs in Syracuse, N.Y. Raab went on to earn his juris doctor from Syracuse University College of Law where he graduated in the top 25 percent of his class and was honored with the CALI Award for Excellence in Wills, Trusts and Estates. This year, he earns his master of laws in real property development from the University of Miami School of Law. Raab is a current member of The Florida Bar and awaiting admission to The Minnesota Bar.

News of Purdy and Raab joining the firm is the latest in a series of announcements tied to Broad and Cassel’s growth across the state. The firm this year announced the addition of Veteran Health Law Attorney Mark Folk and Associate Gabriel Itskovich in Boca Raton; Associate Francisco Armada in Miami; and Former Circuit Court Judge Frank Sheffield in Tallahassee.
