Jon Wilson

Mr. Jon M. Wilson is Of Counsel in the Miami office of Broad and Cassel. He is a member of the Firm's Construction Law and Litigation Practice Group and Co-Chairperson of the Commercial Litigation Practice Group. 

  • An experienced litigator, Mr. Wilson has been lead counsel in hundreds of cases and has tried over 100 matters to verdict or judgment. These matters related to contracts, construction, eminent domain and land use, antitrust, malpractice, personal injury, environmental law, employment law, securities, joint ventures, intellectual property, health care and class actions.
  • For the last 15 years Mr. Wilson has split his time between Florida and California keeping active practices in both places. He has appeared in cases throughout the United States and has tried cases in Florida, North Carolina, Texas, Arizona and California.
  • Throughout his career, Mr. Wilson has been involved in some of the largest infrastructure projects in Florida, assisting both private and public sector clients in eminent domain, development, contracting and procurement, and on the backside, litigating multi-party, complex construction impact and delay claims and defect claims.
  • These claims have ranged from $40 million dollar impact claims on a $250 million airport terminal project and tens of millions in claims on a dewatering and site works program, to successful jury trials on HVAC piping defects and complex limited access highway engineering issues with cascading impacts to adjacent landowners.
  • Mr. Wilson is a board certified mediator, and is also well versed in International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) arbitration proceedings and has recently been lead counsel in several significant matters. He tried a multi-week arbitration in Arizona which resulted in a multi-million dollar award in favor of his client, a leading produce grower and shipper.
  • Mr. Wilson has developed the ability to quickly learn new technologies and works with experts on complicated and sophisticated matters. His trial strengths include the ability to effectively present novel matters, especially to juries, in an easily understood and convincing manner.
  • Mr. Wilson has an AV Preeminent® rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the organization’s highest marks for both competency and ethics.
  • Mr. Wilson is an active member of various professional and community organizations and has been elected to be a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) which is a national organization of experienced trial attorneys and judges.
  • Mr. Wilson did his undergraduate studies at Wake Forest University where he was a history major and a quarterback on the football team. Mr. Wilson graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School, cum laude, and was a member of the University of Wisconsin's Law Review.
