Edward Welch Esq


Mr. Edward J. Welch is an Associate in the Miami office of Broad and Cassel. He is a member of the Firm's Health Law, Commercial Litigation, Construction Law and Litigation and Real Estate Litigation Practice Groups.

  • Mr. Welch has been practicing in the tri-county area for nearly a decade, focusing on complex business matters, bankruptcy, consumer transactions and the construction industry. He has litigated in both state and federal courts, and is a skilled appellate practitioner.
  • His construction experience includes representing contractors, property owners and architects in construction defect actions, construction related insurance coverage disputes and surety issues.
  • Mr. Welch also has experience representing clients in breach of contract, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty and contested foreclosure actions.
  • His background in bankruptcy and creditors' rights includes asset investigation, conducting rule 2004 examinations, preference and fraudulent transfer litigation, and prosecution and defense of adversary proceedings including permanent injunctions and actions to determine validity, priority and extent of liens.
  • Working as a legal intern for U.S. Representative Stephen F. Lynch of Massachusetts, Mr. Welch developed an invaluable understanding of the political arena, preparing congressional policy recommendations for state budget deliberations and drafting proposed legislation, including the Mandatory Overtime for Nurses Bill and the Internet privacy Act.
  • Mr. Welch is a graduate of Boston University and received his juris doctor from the University of Miami School of Law.
  • Mr. Welch was named in 2009 as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers magazine.
Mr. Welch is active in various community and professional organizations and was honored in 2009 with the "Silver Medallion Award" from the Supreme Court of Florida for community service.
