Beverly A. Pohl is a Partner in the Fort Lauderdale office and is Chair of the Firm’s statewide Appellate Law department.

  • Ms. Pohl has been Board Certified in Appellate Practice by The Florida Bar since 2002. She has extensive experience in a wide variety of civil and criminal appellate matters, in both Florida appellate courts and the federal courts of appeals. Her cases include commercial and general civil litigation, False Claims Act health care litigation, criminal appeals, and First Amendment issues involving commercial speech.
  • Ms. Pohl is a Fellow of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers, and has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the area of Appellate Law for twelve consecutive years, and as a "Legal Elite" attorney in the 2009 Florida Trend magazine. For eleven consecutive years, she has been listed as a “Florida Super Lawyer” by Super Lawyers, and in 2006 she was ranked among the Top 25 Female Lawyers in South Florida, as well as in Top 50 Female Lawyers in Florida. In 2017, she was named Best Lawyers in Fort Lauderdale - Appellate Law "Lawyer of the Year." Ms. Pohl has been recognized in the 2007-2016 editions of Chambers USA: A Guide to America's Leading Business Lawyers for her notable appellate practice, where her peers report that she is "really top-flight, smart and creative." She was also named a finalist in Daily Business Review's 2016 Most Effective Lawyers: Appellate Law.
  • The aspects of appellate practice that she most enjoys include creating a readable and persuasive written product, and narrowing the issues for an effective oral argument. In addition, she enjoys working with trial attorneys to resolve procedural, jurisdictional, and substantive law issues whenever they arise, and is committed to always being available to provide an objective, thorough, and prompt analysis of complex law or facts.
  • An experienced speaker on civil and criminal appellate topics, Ms. Pohl has also served as an adjunct professor at the Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center, teaching Appellate practice. She is the Associate Liaison Partner in Fort Lauderdale and enjoys teaching and mentoring law students and associates.
  • Ms. Pohl authored The Right to Recover "Fees for Fees" in the April 2013 Florida Bar Journal, and Is the 'Fairly Debatable' Standard for Bond Pending Appeal Being Applied Unfairly? in the Spring 2009 issue of the Florida Defender.
Ms. Pohl is an avid reader of law, news, and literature, and enjoys Latin ballroom dancing and playing the piano.
