Mr. Murray D. Shear is Of Counsel in the Miami office of Broad and Cassel and a member of the Firm's Banking and Institutional Lending and Real Estate Practice Groups.

  • Mr. Shear has extensive experience in representing institutional lenders. Mr. Shear's representation of financial institutions has included the closing of a broad range of acquisition, development, construction and permanent loans. In that capacity, he has handled the preparation and negotiation of loan commitments, loan documents and dealt with related issues such as Florida intangible tax and documentary stamp tax laws, title and survey, building, zoning and land-use laws and regulations, concurrency and growth management, environmental laws and regulations.
  • In addition, his practice includes representation of real estate investors and developers in all aspects of their acquisition, development, financing and sale of both residential and commercial projects.
  • A notable case he handled was for the City of Miami Beach when it needed to expand parking but there was a scarcity of land near renovated areas. A landowner was willing to make available the space above and behind storefronts. Shear handled yearlong negotiations, including conducting hearings before the City of Miami Beach.
  • Mr. Shear is an AV Preeminent®-rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, achieving the agency’s highest marks for both competency and ethics.
Mr. Shear has participated in charitable causes during his professional career with specific interest in Jewish education causes. He was also a founding member of the Optimist Club. He is particularly proud of starting a Boy Scout troop in a school for mentally challenged children.
