Mr. Brown is the Chairman of Broad and Cassel and of the Firm's Management Committee. He is a member of the Firm’s Real Estate, Land Use and Environmental Law, Government Relations and Public Finance and Capital Projects Practice Groups.

  • In the transactional real estate area, Mr. Brown has focused on domestic and international commercial transactions. Projects in which extensive work has been accomplished include complex land use, concurrency, comprehensive land plans, and environmental issues. He has led billion dollar transactions and financings and has organized some of the largest real estate developments both in Florida and other parts of the country.
  • Mr. Brown’s professional focus has been directed at organizing major corporate, real estate and government transactions, including initiation of the State of Florida’s successful efforts to recruit Scripps Research Institute in Palm Beach County and more recently, the Burnham Institute in Orange County, Florida, with the combined investment of state and local funds of approximately $1 billion.
  • Mr. Brown was appointed to the Florida Transportation Commission from 1999 to 2004, where he served the Commission as Chairman from 2000 to 2003. As part of his service to the Commission, he testified before the State Legislature on numerous transportation issues, helped oversee the $5 billion budget and restructured the Department of Transportation.
  • He has also worked on significant Central Florida highway projects, including the Southern Connector Project at a cost of $330 million and the Western Beltway at a cost of $500 million.
  • Mr. Brown is former Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the University of Florida. He serves on the Board of Directors for CVS Health (CVS), Rayonier Advanced Materials (RYAM), Orlando Health and the Florida Council of 100. He serves on the Executive Committee and chairs the Compensation Committee for CVS and served as lead Director for Rayonier (RYN) in the tax-free spin of Rayonier Advanced Materials (RYAM). Mr. Brown currently serves as the lead director for Rayonier Advanced Materials (RYAM). Mr. Brown serves on the Board of Directors and Strategic Committees for both Orlando Health and the Florida Council of 100. He is currently Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for Orlando Health.
  • He is active in municipal finance and is recognized in the "Red Book" and "Who's Who of American Lawyers" for his experience.
Mr. Brown has served in various community and professional organizations, including the Orlando Performing Arts Center Executive Committee. He has also been recognized for his legal experience in various publications, including Florida Trend magazine's "Florida Legal Elite"; Woodward and White's top legal guide "The Best Lawyers in America"; Chambers USA: A Guide to America's Leading Business Lawyers; Super Lawyers magazine as a "Florida Super Lawyer"; and Orlando magazine as a "Best Lawyer" for numerous years.
