Real Estate Attorney Melissa VanSickle Joins Broad and Cassel as Partner

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – (Sept. 22, 2016) — Statewide law firm Broad and Cassel today announced the addition of Melissa VanSickle, who joins the firm’s Tallahassee office as a partner in the Real Estate Practice Group.

Prior to joining the firm, VanSickle served as a shareholder at Clark Partington in Tallahassee. She brings an extensive background in commercial and residential real estate transactions, handling a variety of matters in all areas including the acquisition, sale and development of real property.

“Melissa has long been viewed as a leader in her field not only in Tallahassee but statewide,” said Tallahassee Real Estate Partner Bruce Wiener. “Her experience will be an asset to our already robust real estate practice group.”

VanSickle’s focus areas include real estate transactions, real property development and real estate litigation. Within this realm, she provides general counsel services for a variety of clients and represents financial institutions as well as title companies and their insureds.

“Broad and Cassel has a significant real estate practice with a statewide footprint,” said VanSickle. “I’m excited about the opportunity to practice in my home town while having a sounding board for a statewide presence.”

Born and raised in Tallahassee, VanSickle was named one of the “25 Women You Need to Know” in 2014 by the Tallahassee Democrat. She also has been heavily involved in The Florida Bar – receiving election earlier this year to serve on the Board of Governors as the Second Judicial Circuit Representative. Most recently, she joined the Knight Creative Communities Institute (KCCI) Community Catalyst Class 2016, serving as a “change agent” for the area and helping to implement projects that will enhance Tallahassee’s economic development.

She received her bachelor’s degree and juris doctor from Florida State University and is admitted to practice in Florida and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida.

Additional community involvement includes serving as the chair of the Second Judicial Circuit Professionalism Panel; a member of The Florida Bar Voluntary Bar Liaison Committee; the membership chair for the William H. Stafford American Inn of Court; and a volunteer with Justice Teaching.

VanSickle also teaches land transfer courses as an adjunct professor at Florida State University College of Law.

News of VanSickle’s hire is the latest in a series of announcements tied to Broad and Cassel’s growth in Tallahassee and across the state. Recently, the firm announced the additions of Associate Joshua Stratton and Former Circuit Court Judge Frank Sheffield in Tallahassee; Associate Jason Lambert in Tampa; Associate Ryan Todd in Fort Lauderdale; Associate Aaron Lifter in Miami; and Associates Andrea Morgan, Heather Purdy, and Lawrence Raab in Orlando.
